300,000 Sq. Ft. Facility Combines Corporate, Administrative, Sales, Marketing,
Technical, Programming & Production Functions at One State-Of-The Art Location
   - A New Home For TV's Fastest Growing Package of Premium Movie Channels

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Reflecting its rapid growth in
recent years and the economic advantages of consolidating all its operations
under one roof, Starz Encore Group officially dedicated its new 300,000 square
foot headquarters outside Denver on Friday, June 28 with the help of Colorado
Governor Bill Owens.
As the new home to the nation's largest and fastest-growing provider of
cable and satellite-delivered premium movie channels, the neo-classical
structure houses all of Starz Encore's corporate, administrative, sales,
marketing, technical, programming and production functions for the company's
15- premium movie channels. Since 1998 the company has grown from 48 to
121 million pay units, with 2001 revenue reaching $863 million, up from
$532 million in 1998. Approximately 500 employees work at the new facility.
"Technically speaking, this is a dedication of the new Starz Encore
headquarters building," said John J. Sie, founder, chairman and CEO of Starz
Encore Group. "In reality, we're dedicating a new phase in the life of Starz
Encore. This building, no matter how grand and beautiful, is just concrete,
mortar, and steel. What's important is what's in the building. We've
assembled the best team in the world, installed the best equipment and created
the best environment so we can all do the best job in a very competitive
Colorado Governor Bill Owens congratulated Starz Encore for its business
success and involvement in the community, noting the company plays an
important role in promoting Colorado as a national leader in high tech and
communications employment. He praised the company's support for the Starz
FilmCenter in downtown Denver and the Colorado Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Liberty Media Corporation President and CEO Robert Bennett spoke as well,
praising Starz Encore as one of Liberty Media Corporation's most important
Located south of Denver in the 1,630 acre Meridian International Business
Center development at the northeast corner of the I-25/E-470 interchange, the
five-story building was designed by Michael Barber Architects of Denver and
built by Weitz Construction.
It offers a number of unique features for a building that will serve as a
corporate headquarters, office building, video production house, video
distribution hub and satellite uplink/downlink center. While meeting the
operational needs of Starz Encore, the building is home to an inviting work
environment that at once inspires and aids in the accomplishment of complex
business tasks.
Mark Bauman, president and chief operating officer of Starz Encore, told
the approximately 250 people at the dedication ceremony there were many
business and operational reasons for consolidating Denver-area employees
located at two leased facilities.
"As a company, we were physically separated in two metro-area locations,
and we were using third parties for our critical origination and distribution
functions," said Bauman. "We were also running out of space in both locations
and our leases were set to expire at the end of 2001.
"This allowed us to not only bring all of our Denver-based employees under
one roof, but to also take advantage of state-of-the-art technological
developments, bring critical operations in-house, and be much more cost
efficient, all at the same time."

    Special Features
Bauman pointed to a number of special features ranging from the building's
sheer size to specialized technical capabilities and employee amenities:

-- The building is 300,000 square feet.
-- It has 545 covered and 128 surface parking spaces.
-- It has a cafe that seats 115.
-- It has an outstanding employee fitness facility.
     -- It originates 52 channels, running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
-- Broadcasts through its own up-link facility with 36 simultaneous
         program feeds.
-- Broadcasts 3 audio pairs per program, including English, Spanish, and
         Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
-- Uses a robotic archive system that holds an entire library of over
         4,500 movies at a time.
-- Employs four, nine-meter dishes for up-linking our satellite signals.
-- Has two independent uninterrupted power supply systems.
-- Has two back-up generators providing redundant power.
-- Uses over 128 miles of cable to link it all together.

     Production capabilities include:
     -- 10 post-production edit suites
     -- 3 Audio edit suites
-- 7 Graphic design suites, and
-- 3 Quality Control Screening rooms

Noting the new facility is the first large scale, automated, server-based,
broadcast origination facility in the world, Bauman said, "In addition to all
of this, we have provided the infrastructure to allow us to launch new
channels and businesses, as opportunities arise."
Less than 15 months passed between the October 2000 groundbreaking and the
transfer of Starz Encore employees from their two previous Denver-area
