Wachendorf New SVP, Affiliate Marketing; Giorgio Promoted And
Egner Named to Senior VP, Sales and Affiliate Relations Positions
CHICAGO, NCTA Cable 2001, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Encore Group LLC
(Starz Encore) President of Distribution, Que Spaulding, detailed a series of
senior management personnel announcements on behalf of the company, a wholly-
owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Group (NYSE: LMGa, LMGb).
Jillaina Wachendorf, senior vice president of sales and affiliate
relations, has accepted the newly created position of senior vice president of
affiliate marketing, and will report to Mike Hale, Starz Encore's senior vice
president, marketing and business development. Bolstering its senior
management ranks in sales, Spaulding announced that Bill Giorgio has been
promoted to senior vice president, sales and affiliate relations for cable.
Giorgio was previously vice president, sales and affiliate relations and
joined the company in September 1996. Spaulding also announced that Home Box
Office (HBO) veteran Debbie Egner has joined the company and will fill a
second senior vice president, sales and affiliate relations cable position.
Both Giorgio and Egner will report directly to Spaulding.
"Starz Encore is delighted to empower Jillaina with her new affiliate
marketing endeavor, while at the same time recognizing Bill's past
accomplishments and achievements, and fortifying our management ranks with the
addition of Debbie," said Spaulding. "Jillaina and Bill's accomplishments at
Starz Encore are worthy of commendation and today's announcement is testament
to their respective hard work and successes in helping us grow the business to
where it stands today. We are delighted to have someone of the caliber of
Debbie Egner join us and help fill some of the sales and affiliate
responsibilities vacated by Jillaina's migration over to marketing."
Building on her past successes and expertise, Wachendorf will be tasked
with developing marketing initiatives and enhancing communication and
execution between the Starz Encore affiliate marketing, sales, and consumer
marketing departments. Wachendorf will look to oversee the company's "basic
only" initiative, focused on driving Starz Super Pak penetration to greater
than 50% of digital homes. She will also look to identify and evaluate other
marketing initiatives and new, marketing-driven revenue opportunities.
Wachendorf had responsibility for sales and affiliate activities for AT&T,
Cox, Comcast, MediaOne and the National Division and managed a sales and
marketing staff of more than 50 employees. Before joining Starz Encore in
1991, Wachendorf was director of affiliate services at Pro Am Sports System
(PASS) where she was responsible for sales, marketing and affiliate relations
for all PASS affiliates.
Since joining the company nearly five years ago, Bill Giorgio has been one
of two executives responsible for managing Starz Encore's cable sales and
generating revenue for the company's cable division. Before joining Starz
Encore, Giorgio spent eight years with Showtime Networks in various sales and
marketing roles. Prior to that, Giorgio was North American Product Manager
for Rio de Janeiro-based Grupo Formiplac and was promoted to Marketing
Director during his 2 1/2-year stint. Giorgio began his professional career
as teacher of English, reading, and mathematics with grades K-10 for the Essex
County Education Commission in Essex, New Jersey.
Debbie Egner was most recently Regional Vice President in HBO's Southeast
Region Office in Atlanta. In her previous role, Debbie was responsible for
HBO/Cinemax subscriber and revenue growth for the Cox Communications national
account. She was also responsible for a large regional territory in the
southeastern United States comprised of Adelphia, Cox, Time Warner, and
various other cable owners. Prior to that, Egner started her career in
customer service and marketing with a commercial video-text project in a joint
venture with AT&T and Knight-Ridder newspapers.
